About Fairfield Forge - Albert Wallis
Fairfield Forge was established in 2015 by Albert Wallis, combining his skill as a long-standing martial artist and his keen interest in blacksmithing. As a practitioner of traditional Chinese martial arts for over 20 years, Bert appreciated the importance of well-balanced and well-made martial arts training weapons. As he continued to work as a blacksmith, his interest was peaked by the forging and heat treatment of tool steels to make the punches, drifts, chisels and other cutting tools used in traditional forge-work. This interest soon expanded to include the precision and artistry of making knives and before long swords.
With this unique combination of knowledge, Bert wanted to address the lack of well-made, beautiful, but affordable and functional martial arts training weapons available to other practitioners. Now based in a larger workshop in Gloucestershire, Fairfield Forge meets these needs, combining modern machining techniques with traditional blade-making. Committed to precision and quality, the pieces produced at Fairfield Forge exemplify simplicity, functionality and beauty.
All of the training weapons and other products at Fairfield forge are made in small batches or singly by Bert, by hand, in his workshop.
